Bernie, Al, and Rudy

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems Giuliani has some pretty – well – strange friends.

First there was his recommendation for DHS chief, Bernie Kerik.  You’ll remember he was the guy who Rudy recommended even though he knew his friend and business partner, Kerik, was being investigated for several felonies by the FBI and for his mob ties.

Now, his high school buddy, Monsignor Alan Placa – who, since being removed from priestly duties by the Catholic church, has been working for Giuliani Partners, Rudy’s consulting firm [the parent organization of Giuliani-Kerik] – is accused of molesting several boys while he was teaching at a parochial high school.  His [Placa’s] defense?  While he does actually deny the allegations, I was struck by how many times, in my reading about it, he simply said the statute of limitations had expired.

I don’t know about you, but that certainly makes me go, “Hmmm…”

Either this guy is loyal to a fault – to the point of political suicide – or he’s somehow complicit.  Either way, he doesn’t have the character to live in the White House.

And I haven’t even gotten started on his politics.
