Is the Houston Chronicle Turning a New Leaf?

There was an interesting little gem in the Houston Chronicle recently that actually acknowledged the illegal population in the US may be – shock! – other than what the current presidential regime claims it to be.  The subject was a meeting at the National Press Club organized by Californians for Population StabilizationCould this be the harbinger of a sea change on immigration in the southeast Texas sanctuary city?

Don’t bet the farm just yet.  While quoting proponents of restriction –

“Immigration is in a state of anarchy,” organ-ization member James Walsh, a former Immigration and Naturalization Service lawyer, fervently told the room. “Not chaos, anarchy.”

– and allowing they could be right in their estimates of up to 38 million

Diana Hull, a behavioral scientist and former Houstonian who is president of Californians for Population Stabilization, siad the federal government’s alleged undercount of illegal immigrants is partly the result of mistrust.“We have a very large group of people who don’t have the same feeling about responding to legitimate questions from their government,” Hull said.

For example, she said, large numbers of illegal immigrants living in a single house may not tell a census-taker how many people are really living there.

“The fact of the matter is they don’t answer the question,” she said.

 – the Chronicle had to give “equal time” to the immigration enthusiasts down the hall.  NBC’s Telemundo network was launching some questionable PSAs:

News anchor Jose Diaz-Balart said Telemundo wants to lever-age the passion from last year’s immigration rallies into a stronger turnout among Latinos who historically vote at disproportionately low rates.

“Hispanics in the U.S. will now have a way to channel all that frustration and do some good,” Diaz-Balart said.

And of course, the story wouldn’t have been complete without an attempt to marginalize the immigration rationalists:

The population figure presented by the group was tabulated by Fred Elbel, a computer specialist and anti-immigration activist from Colorado. The Social Contract Press, which published his report, also publishes racist works, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Because if the SPLC says someone’s racist, it’s got to be true, rightAnd, of course, NBC’s Telemundo gets the last, telling – and somewhat chilling – word, exposing their real agenda:

Added Alfredo Richard, senior vice president of communications and talent development for the network, “It’s not enough to grow in numbers, but to gain in political strength.”

One wonders what Bush, Calderon, et al., have done – or given – to gain the aid of such “useful idiots” as the MSM.  The Treason Lobby couldn’t buy the kind of press these guys give them for free.
